Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly pictured officially launching Jigsaw North Fingal, with Lynn Robertson; Youth Advisor (volunteer) for Jigsaw North Fingal

Minister for Health Dr James Reilly today, Thursday 10 October, officially opened the Jigsaw North Fingal Hub in Balbriggan, Co Dublin. Jigsaw Hubs, which are neutral, accessible and youth friendly spaces are managed by Headstrong, a non-profit organisation committed to changing how Ireland thinks about young people’s mental health.

Jigsaw North Fingal joins other Hubs across the country in Galway, Roscommon, Meath, Kerry, Donegal, Offaly and Tallaght in providing a much needed service for young people. Plans are also in place to open in Limerick later this year.

Officially opening the Jigsaw Hub Minister Reilly said

“It is fitting that today also marks World Mental Health Day.  And if I could get just one message across this morning, it is this. It is incumbent on all of us to foster a culture where those experiencing mental health issues, and especially our young people, do not hesitate to seek help. Help is available from many sources and it really can make all the difference in helping people recover as fully and quickly as possible. This Jigsaw project will provide much needed support to the youth of North Fingal and I wish all associated with it, staff and young people, every success in the future”.
